Universal Studios Singapore

I went to Universal Studios yesterday courtesy of a friend. This would be my third time there, and second time there during the day time. Universal Studios Singapore is designed like New York's Broadway as well as some parts of Hollywood, so when we entered, it was as if we were walking through the streets of old New York.

There are lots of rides and shows of course, but the ones I would recommend (in no particular order) are :

1. Waterworld. This is a replica of the movie starring Kevin Costner, and in the show itself was on the battle between the good and evil tribes in their quest for dry land, and the mariner (half man half fish) saved the girl he loved from the evil tribe and won the war.

The mariner fighting the evil guy

 Reunion of the lovers

The evil tribe leader trying to escape on the seaplane

I like the show because it not only recreates the storyline of Waterworld, it also uses lots of fireworks and other kinds of pyrotechnics to make the show come to life. This is about the same as the Waterworld section in Universal Studios Los Angeles. Oh and the actors are good looking with nice bodies and can swim very well too!

2. Jurassic Park Canopy Ride. This is just a sky ride that goes one round and back, although it is a fast moving one.

3. Revenge of the Mummy Underground Rollercoaster. This rollercoaster goes up, down, front and backwards without warning. Hence there is lots of excitement riding on it, as it weaves through ancient Egypt in order to put a stop to the curse of the Mummy!

This sign leads to the entrance of the roller coaster.

Sorry, no photos of the inside as we were not allowed to bring anything in as we make our way to the roller coaster.

4. Transformers Simulation Ride. This simulation ride is different from other simulation rides. While other simulation rides is when you only need to sit in the seat and the movie would take you to various places, this simulation ride requires you to sit in the seat and the seat actually moves around - left, ride, front, back, even shaking a little as you enter into battle with the Decepticons and the Autobots. This is my personal favourite actually.

Again, there are no photos of the inside as it was quite dark and troublesome to take photos while the seat was moving and sharing.

5. Battlestar Galactical Red and Blue Rollercoaster. This rollercoaster is high above ground. The red coaster is on top, so you feel your legs on the ground, while the blue coaster is suspended, so it was as if you feel nothing except being suspended in the air. I did not have the guts to try out, but my friends did and said was great!

See how the people are being suspended!

Universal Studios Singapore is not as big as the one in Los Angeles, perhaps because of lack of land, but it is a good enough theme park for individuals, couples and the whole family. Of course there are many more rides and fun in the Los Angeles one, but the ones we have in Singapore is enough for people to spend a day there already.
