Dolphin Lagoon

After the trip to the oceanarium, I made a trip to the Underwater World. I took the Sentosa Express from Waterfront Station to Beach Station, then took a beach tram to Siloso Beach. The Underwater World is located opposite the alighting point for the beach tram.

 

Since it was almost time for the dolphin show, I decided to go to the Dolphin Lagoon first, which is just straight inside from the Underwater World. Although the show would only start in another half an hour, the place was already almost full. I was lucky to be able to get seats on the first row, but not facing the actual stage.

 

The Dolpin Lagoon is famous for its pink dolphins. The pink dolphins are so called because they have pink hues all over their bodies, rather than the normal dark colours. The dolphins are so cute! They like to show off by putting their heads out, swimming in a flashy way and gaining the audience's attention any way they like.

The show started off with the pink dolphin's trainer talking to it and asking it to swim around and wave at the audience.

However, the highlight of the show is the pair of very talented sealions, who can walk, swim, clap, bow and even cosy up to people!

One of the tricks performed by the sealions is that when the trainer threw a multitude of rings towards one of the sealions, and it caught every one of the rings perfectly without missing, while in water!

Of course the pink dolphins are not to be outdone. They performed stunts like catching a ball with their snouts and balancing the ball on top of their snouts, and even somersaulting through a hoop.

Once the audience's attention was fixed on the dolphins, the sealions tried to outdo them to win back the audience's attention. One of the sealions started posing together with its trainer.

It was then a competition between the pink dolphins and the sealions, on who can captivate the audience's attentions more!

Finally it came to the end of the show. The pink dolphins then bade their farewells by sticking their heads up and waving goodbye with their flippers.

If you make a trip down to the Underwater World, do go on to the Dolphin Lagoon and stay on for the show. It is really a great show and entertaining for both kids and adults alike. I much prefer this show than to explore the Underwater World itself.
